Among the players of the independent league CMEK are two sisters, Stephanie Greenspan of Teaneck and Daniela Epstein of Manhattan. At only 5’7’’ Daniela Epstein has made a name for herself in the sport of basketball which she has been playing since the tender age of eight. In fact, Epstein, who played on Yeshiva University’s Lady Macs basketball team from 1999 to 2003, is the all-time leading scorer with 1,134 career points and is the only woman in YU history to score over 1000 points in her career. Jewish MLB Players Visit Israeli Air Force Base With FIDF

Rehovot, Israel – Ten Jewish current and former Major League Baseball players and their families visited the Tel Nof Israeli Air Force Base near Rehovot, Israel, as part of a trip to Israel in preparation for the World Baseball Classic. The base visit, organized by Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), allowed the players to meet and hear firsthand from the fighter pilots who protect Israel’s skies.

Little League Cadets teams (ages 11-14) from the Israel Association of Baseball battled each other at Tel Aviv’s Sportek facility last Friday during the league’s annual Chanukah baseball tourney. Teams from Modiin, Tel Aviv, Kibbutz Gezer, Ra’anana, Lev Hasharon and Misgav (Northern Israel), who boast many new immigrants from the metro NY-NJ region, played in an exciting round-robin event that started early in the morning and stretched into the afternoon hours.

WTA Hosts First Ever Shabbaton

With a growing school body representing major Jewish communities in Riverdale, New Rochelle, White Plains and beyond, Westchester Torah Academy recently held its first ever shabbaton in New Rochelle. Among the attendees were all twenty WTA YINR families, five staff families, a Riverdale family with ties to New Rochelle and a family from downtown New Rochelle.

The shabbaton began with a kabbalat Shabbat on Friday night in YINR that was led by Rabbi Rami Strosberg, head of school.
