SAR Takes First Place at Wittenberg Wrestling Invitational

For the first time in its history, the SAR Sting won the Yeshiva University Wittenberg Wrestling Invitational Tournament. Approximately 200 yeshiva high school wrestlers participated in the event, which took place over President’s Day weekend. Returning 2014 champions TABC finished in second place and, for the first time in a decade, MTA finished in the top three, placing third.

48 Fall Student-Athletes Earn Skyline Conference Academic Honor Roll

Forty-eight Yeshiva University fall student-athletes were recognized by the Skyline Conference for earning a 3.3 or higher grade point average during the fall 2014 semester, and were named to the Skyline Conference Honor Roll. Twelve members from the men’s soccer team, nine members from the men’s cross country team, eight members from the women’s cross country team, eight members from the women’s tennis team, six members from the women’s volleyball team, and five members from the men’s golf team earned the honor for amassing the high grade point average while competing in their sport.

MTA Wrestling Takes Third at Wittenberg

The MTA Lions, having placed 7th last year, astounded the yeshiva wrestling world by taking 3rd place at the 20th Annual Wittenberg Wrestling Invitational Tournament. With two wrestlers taking 1st place, two taking 2nd place, two taking 3rd place, one taking 4th place, two taking 5th place, the rest of the team winning multiple matches and two of the captains being awarded the only two prestigious awards given to the best wrestlers at the competition, the Lions, under the guidance of former Team USA wrestler Carlos Dolmo, demonstrated an incredible performance.

20th Annual Henry Wittenberg Wrestling Invitational Tournament

On President’s weekend Yeshiva University will host the 20th annual Henry Wittenberg Wrestling Invitational Tournament. Yeshiva high school wrestlers from across the United States will join together for the four-day event. Wrestling begins at YU’s Washington Heights Wilf Campus on Friday, February 13, followed by the annual wrestling Shabbaton. The Shabbaton is an opportunity for the 200 wrestlers to become friends and bond, and this year, will feature an inspirational talk from five-time track and field Para-Olympian Marlon Shirley.
