WTA Students Shine at Carnegie Hall Appearance

On May 27, students from Westchester Torah Academy had the opportunity of a lifetime when they performed as musicians at the world-famous Carnegie Hall. Third graders from WTA spent the year participating in a curriculum called “Link Up,” a program in which students in Grades 3 through 5 are given the chance to study music theory and technique as a class. The class culminates in a performance with a live orchestra at Carnegie Hall. Students, taught by Rabbi Rami Strosberg, mastered a series of songs that they learned to sing and to play in unison on the recorder. The theme of this year’s “Link Up” was “The Orchestra Rocks.”

SAR Girls Varsity Tennis Team Completes Another Undefeated Season

The SAR girls varsity tennis team continues their winning streak, winning all their matches this season by defeating Heschel, Kushner, Ramaz, Hillel, Frisch, North Shore and Central. The 7-0 record clinches their first place in the division and league. They beat Central 3-2 in the championship game in one of the closest matches of the season.

The girls team continues their undefeated winning streak since 2012, holding the most consecutive undefeated seasons in SAR’s sports history, and possibly the yeshiva league as well. Ma’ayanot Closes MYHSAL Softball Season As Repeat Champions

While the day started off with the dreer of rain, it ended with joy for the Ma’ayanot Rapids who were reigned this year’s softball champions.

At 7:30 p.m. the Rapids started their warm up for the big game, complete with music for some pregame ruach. They played their favorite songs between each inning.

In attendance were Ma’ayanot alumnae, administration and faculty. Families came out to support their daughters and sisters. Even past teammates, just arriving home from their gap year in Israel, turned out.

MTA Lions Come From Behind to Win JV Softball Championship

It was a beautiful Father’s Day morning as the junior varsity softball MTA Lions took to the field against the DRS Wildcats of the Five Towns for the 2016 Yeshiva League Championship. Tension filled the air as these two powerhouse teams got set to face off. On the MTA side of the field, family, fellow students and faculty enjoyed a school-provided BBQ.

The game began. With one out in the top of the first, Ellie Roz of the Wildcats launched an 0-1 pitch over the left field fence, giving the Wildcats an early 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the second, the Lions clawed their way back when sophomore Chaim Weinstein drilled a line drive into centerfield, scoring freshman Yaron Kahan.
