YU Roller Hockey Team Goes on Cinderella Run in NCRHA Championship

(yumacs.com) The Yeshiva University roller hockey team completed its historical season last week. In its first season competing in Division II, and just the second season as a program, YU advanced all the way to the Elite 8 of the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association championships, and fell just three wins short of a national title.

After winning the Division 4 championship in its inaugural season, the Maccabees were promoted to Division II, where they would be eligible to compete for the national championship. Congratulations to the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Center Team Wild and coaches Laurent and Remy Mastey on winning the Floor Hockey Junior League Championship. The championship game was an exhilarating final game to cap off a great season.

Thank you to all who participated in the 2017 SAR Floor Hockey League Winter Season. We hope that everyone had a great time and enjoyed playing/watching floor hockey at the SAR HS rink.

Friends of Yachad Hosts First-Ever 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament

New York—Friends of Yachad held its first-ever 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on Sunday, March 26, at the Ramaz Upper School in Manhattan.

Twenty teams of young professionals vied for the title, and after several hours of intense 3-on-3 games, Andrew Haft, Michael Berg and Max Feldstein (“Team Fam”) emerged victorious.

Thanks to a devoted host committee, generous corporate sponsors and participants, nearly $10,000 was raised benefitting Yachad’s Individualized Vocational Development Unit (IVDU) schools. The day’s program also included a Chinese auction that was managed by a Yachad vocational member.

SAR JV Lady Sting Defeat Frisch to Win Basketball Championship

Frisch and SAR came into the game having split their season series. SAR jumped out to an early lead behind the hot shooting of Sophia Reich and strong rebounding of Olivia Weinstein. Frisch began to chip away at the lead and was only down by seven at halftime behind the play of Charlotte Turner and Leila Deluty. Frisch continued their strong play in the third quarter and tied the game with four minutes left. SAR was able to regain the lead on a big three pointer by Bella Ingber. Clutch foul shooting down the stretch by Rita Feder sealed the 42-33 victory for SAR.

Sophia Reich led all scorers with 14 points, followed by Bella Ingber with ten points and Millie Helft with nine points.
