(Courtesy of Intimate Voices) Intimate Voices, a Riverdale-based chamber music series featuring world-class musicians, will present the second concert of its 10th anniversary season on Sunday, January 27, at 3:00 p.m. at its home, the Conservative Synagogue Adath Israel of Riverdale (CSAIR), 475 West 250th Street, Bronx, New York.

The series presents chamber music in an intimate and acoustically excellent setting at CSAIR and in community outreach events. The participating musicians have performed in venues all over the United States and abroad as soloists, as well as in ensembles ranging from major string quartets to the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic.

The concert will present intimate Baroque masterworks for combinations of two violins, viola, cello and harpsichord in a program of music by J.S. Bach and his sons, Handel, Graun and Goldberg, inspired by the musical salons of Berlin in the late 18th century, many hosted by highly educated and musically accomplished Jewish women such as Sara Levy, the great-aunt of Felix Mendelssohn. Music Director Sheila Reinhold (violin, viola) will be joined by Renée Jolles (violin), James Wilson (cello) and Carsten Schmidt (harpsichord).

Intimate Voices series concerts include complimentary refreshments, an informal post-concert reception with the musicians and the popular [email protected] A tasting of kosher artisanal all-natural cheeses provided by TheCheeseGuy is the featured offering at the January 27 concert. Doors will open at 2:30 for cheese-tasting, wine, coffee and tea, and the concert begins at 3:00. Tickets include all refreshments and can be purchased by credit card online at www.intimatevoices.org or at the door by check or cash. Single tickets are $30, $25 for seniors, $15 for students/under 30.

In addition to its Sunday afternoon series concerts at CSAIR, Intimate Voices is continuing its expanded community outreach, visiting area rehabilitation/nursing facilities and classes at a local special-needs preschool, and offering a sensory/autism-friendly family program free to all at CSAIR, spring date TBA.

The Intimate Voices anniversary-season series will conclude with a performance at CSAIR on Sunday, March 10, at 3:00 p.m., which will include Intimate Voices’ annual wine-tasting provided by Skyview Wine & Spirits.
