Members of the Lincoln Park Jewish Center, a Modern Orthodox synagogue in Yonkers, celebrate the joy of Hoshanah Rabbah as they circle the Torah on the bimah holding and shaking their lulav, etrog, hadassim and aravot, on the seventh and last day of the Sukkot holiday. At the conclusion of the special annual service, the shofar was blown for the last time this New Year, and five willow branches were beaten on the floor as we implored God to save us, bless us and continue our good fortunes amid abundant gladness.
