The Bronx Jewish Community Council (BJCC) is celebrating its 7th Annual Breakfast for Champions on Wednesday, November 30, at the Riverdale Jewish Center, located at 3700 Independence Avenue, Bronx, NY 10463.
The mission of BJCC is to provide enhanced quality of life to the residents of the Bronx, particularly older adults, by offering services, support and coordination of community resources.
Hundreds are expected at this event, including community members, business leaders and elected officials coming from local and citywide offices.
This year’s honorees are Hon. Adolfo Carrion Jr., former Bronx Borough President and Founder and CEO of Metro Futures LLC, who will be receiving the Bronx Business Leader Award; Sam Shalem, Chairman and CEO of Prestige Properties, who will be receiving the Bronx Realty Leader Award; Dr. Molham Solomon, Director of OBGYN and Women’s Health at St. Joseph’s Hospital, who will be receiving the Guardian of Chesed Award; Dr. Lori Solomon, Associate Dean for Community Health Affairs at New York Medical College, who will be receiving the Guardian of Chesed Award; Hon. John Barone, NY State Supreme Court Justice, retired, who will be receiving the Public Service Award; Lynn Levine, Former Director of the Co-op City Jewish Community Council, who will be receiving the Lorance Hockert Labor of Love Award; and Fred Levine, BJCC Champion Volunteer, who will be receiving the Lorance Hockert Labor of Love Award.
The Breakfast for Champions event is BJCC’s largest annual fundraising campaign. It is vital in allowing the agency to continue providing uninterrupted service to its thousands of clients. BJCC provides life-sustaining services including emergency cash assistance, connections to benefits and entitlements, care management, mental health outreach and other essential support services.
