(Courtesy of YIS) The crowd was large at Riverdale’s K Grill House on Tuesday, March 20. Towards the back of the room, a boisterous group of young men was gathered, sampling beers, wings and an abundance of hot dogs and steaks. Instead of watching a big game, however, the group was gathered for a different reason: to brush up on their Seder Torah at the Young Israel of Scarsdale’s third annual B’(eer) Seder.
Held the week before the first night of Passover, this special event has become as well known for the seder guidance provided by YIS head rabbi Rabbi Jonathan Morgenstern and Assistant Rabbi Nuriel Klinger as it has for the great nosh, flowing drinks and good, old-fashioned fun.
This year, despite the cold, close to 30 men turned out for the special event. YIS Co-President Elisha Blechner said, “It’s always nice for us to get together as a community outside the shul environment.”
While this year’s B’(eer) and regular seders are now behind us, there are still plenty of opportunities to join in one of the many events on the YIS calendar, like the upcoming family celebration for Yom Ha’atzmaut on April 18.
