Chanukah starts this year at sundown on Sunday, December 2. To kick off the eight day holiday, there will be a special menorah lighting at the Fountain Plaza of Ridge Hill Shopping Center, located at 1 Ridge Hill Boulevard. People are asked to come starting at 3:30 p.m. The entire community is invited to bring canned food, which will be used to build a menorah. After the menorah is built and lit at 4:30 p.m., the cans will be brought to a local food bank and distributed to those in need. The event will feature potato latkes, doughnuts, chocolate Chanukah gelt and the live music of Bobby Doowah and Friends.

On Monday, December 3, at 6 p.m., a menorah lighting at the Cross County Shopping Center, 80000 Mall Walk in Yonkers, will feature live music by the WhatsUp Band, hot potato latkes, doughnuts and chocolate Chanukah gelt.

On Tuesday, December 4, at City Hall 40 South Broadway, Yonkers, following the City Hall menorah lighting at 4:30 p.m., a Grand Car Menorah Parade will leave City Hall at 6 p.m. As occurred last year, many cars with Happy Chanukah signs and menorahs on top will illuminate Yonkers with a wonderful parade of menorahs and music, ending with a pizza party at Nahmias et Fils Distillery.
