First grade at WDS has been learning about their senses in science class, and this week, they had a special treat. First grade dad and audiologist Dr. Jonathan Goldminc came to visit the class and taught the students all about the ear, how sound vibrations work and hearing aids. The students got to feel their voices vibrate across balloons, learned how to protect their ears against loud noises and learn about the three tiniest bones in the body—all in the ear! Each student got a special teddy bear with its own hearing aids and a comic book about hearing. Special thanks to Dr. Goldminc for giving his time to the first graders who learned a ton and had a blast!
