SAR Boys JV soccer team clinched the 2018 MYHSAL championship on Sunday with a 6-4 victory over Frisch in a closely contested game at the Torah Academy of Bergen County.

In the regular season, Frisch Cougars finished top of the boys JV West division ahead of the SAR Sting by two points. The teams met twice prior to the playoffs. SAR took the first match 5-4 and Frisch won the second 7-6. Both teams progressed to the playoffs, which saw the Cougars earn a bye in the quarter-finals and beat Magen David 8-0 in their semi-final match up. The Sting made it comfortably through their quarter-final with a 15-8 victory over Flatbush. Their semi-final fixture against DRS was a much tighter game, with SAR eventually coming out on top and winning 6-5.

A large crowd attended TABC on Sunday to witness the exciting conclusion of the 2018 boys JV season. A bright start from SAR in the championship game helped them to open up a 4-2 lead. Frisch responded with strong spells of play in the second and third quarters, pulling the score back to 4-4. In a very even and tense fourth quarter, the SAR Sting managed to score two more goals to become the champions.
