Registration is now open for the League of Our Own Girls Sunday Softball league. Sponsored by the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale, the league has been providing girls in Riverdale and greater Westchester with the opportunity to play recreational softball on Sundays for almost 25 years.

Players are assigned to the junior (grades 3-5) or senior (grades 6-8) divisions. This is a recreational league focused on teaching basic skills and teamwork. First time players are welcome and encouraged to join.

Games take place in Seton Park in Riverdale on Sunday mornings at 8:30 am and 10:30 am and on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm. Practices are once a week at times that fit the schedules of the volunteer parent coaches, parents and players.

“We are excited for another great season of girls softball.” said Nina Bruder, commissioner of the league. “Everyone who wants to play makes a team, with effort made on the league’s part to ensure that the teams are balanced regarding skill levels. No experience is required.”

The first games are scheduled for the end of March. To register, visit To become a volu1nteer parent coach, go to For more info, contact Bruder at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
